Big Talk/Home School Diary

Home-school diary

Mrs Beard will set little optional activities for you to do at home with your child. The activities will link to specific areas of the EYF and Ks1 Curriculum. They will also link in with what we have been learning in school and will extend your child’s learning further. Please feel free to write in any ‘wow’ moments that your child has done at home. For example; they listened for longer, put their own coat on and zipped it up, waited patiently, recognised numbers, kept on trying etc.

These comments from you to me all contribute to your child’s end of year assessment and will help to inform me in planning for their next steps in their learning.

If you would like to, you have the opportunity to cover the book at home; for example in wrapping paper (my children in September did this and loved it) I have attached a special label for you to stick on the front for you to write ‘Home School Diary’ and your child’s name.

Big Talk

A new feature to our blog will be The Big Talk .We want to enthuse our children to become talkers and listeners as well as readers. After all, if a child can’t say it they won’t be able to write it.
Spending this time talking with your child will help support our classes Golden Talk Cafe on Friday. I will add questions that you can use as a starting point for your discussion. If possible , could distractions be turned off while the dicussion is taking place .
